After the recent Worlds in January it was announced that the 2012 event would use the sets format for all disciplines. Now sets is a reasonable format for singles, particularly for the Aussie and UK television audiences, but rubbish for other disciplines. In sets an end can't be killed, the jack gets respotted left, right and centre, etc etc.

Thankfully Bowls Australia has announced the sets format has been dropped. The Commonwealth Games should do likewise and, moreover, reinstate the fours title.
